HI THERE. IT’S SURABHI

Easy, right? What’s not easy is knowing how to make transformative goals a reality sometimes.

And you don’t have to do it alone.

Don’t be intimidated by my name - it’s Surabhi Kukke, pronounced

su-ruh-bee ku-kay

There are many paths to transformation.

  • I transform how organizations approach equity work through tailored facilitation processes and capacity building. Using people-centered methodologies, I help your team distill complex concepts into accessible frameworks, strengthen collaborative decision-making, and develop sustainable approaches to addressing social and health inequities. My facilitation creates brave spaces where meaningful change can take root.

  • My approach to research and evaluation centers community expertise and lived experience. I design programs that authentically respond to community-identified needs, create participatory research frameworks, and conduct evaluations that measure what truly matters. Whether you're planning a new initiative or assessing existing work, I provide technical assistance that honors complexity while delivering actionable insights.

  • I cultivate transformative leadership that centers equity, collaboration, and community wisdom. Working with organizations and individuals, I build leadership pathways that amplify the voices of those most impacted by systemic barriers. My approach focuses on developing leaders who can navigate complexity, share power authentically, and sustain themselves through challenging work. Whether through cohort models, one-on-one coaching, or organizational restructuring, I help create leadership practices that align with liberatory values and drive meaningful, sustainable change.

  • I bridge the gap between policy frameworks and community impact, translating complex policy landscapes into clear, actionable strategies. My work includes analyzing how policies affect communities and workforces, developing accessible advocacy tools, providing evidence-based policy recommendations, and designing approaches that meaningfully engage communities in policy conversations that directly affect their lives.

ABOUT ME

Surabhi Kukke

Surabhi Kukke is a seasoned consultant with over two decades of experience addressing social and health inequities through compassionate leadership, innovative facilitation, and community-centered approaches. As the founder of su.na.ku. consulting, she brings her extensive background in public health, gender equity, and social justice to organizations seeking to create meaningful, sustainable change.

Currently serving as a Senior Programs Consultant with Futures Without Violence, Surabhi manages national initiatives to improve public health responses to domestic and sexual violence. Her work includes co-creating community-based alternatives to punitive systems, developing resources on the intersections between HIV and intimate partner violence, and supporting survivor leadership development. As co-host of two national podcasts—"Expanding the Continuum" and "Pivot Towards Promising Futures"—she explores critical connections between violence prevention, HIV, and reimagining family safety.

Previously, Surabhi directed Prevention Programs at the Texas Council on Family Violence, where she led teams providing training and technical assistance to local domestic violence programs. Her international experience includes work with the Women's Global Health Imperative in India, where she designed interventions promoting gender-equitable relationships among young couples in urban Bangalore. At Planned Parenthood of New York City's International Program, she developed evaluation resources for measuring "hard-to-measure" goals like empowerment and gender equity.

Surabhi's commitment to justice extends to her advocacy work. She has coordinated the drafting process of HIV/AIDS anti-discrimination legislation in India and researched the commitment to addressing violence against women in the portfolios of the largest global HIV/AIDS funders. Her collaborative approach to complex social issues is reflected in her community involvement with organizations like Communities of Color United for Racial Justice and Mama Sana Vibrant Woman.

Holding a Master of Science degree from Harvard University's School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies from Rutgers University, Surabhi brings academic rigor and practical wisdom to her consulting work. Her published works address topics ranging from reproductive health integration into violence prevention programs to the connections between HIV and sexuality through a rights-based lens.

With proficiency in qualitative research methodologies and working knowledge of multiple languages, Surabhi designs accessible, culturally responsive approaches that center the expertise of those most affected by inequities. Her consultancy focuses on helping organizations advance social justice through trauma-informed practices, equity-centered program development, and community-led solutions.
